This one is really a special one. I was approached by the production with the idea of shooting a Nike event dedicated to finding the next superstar across the young football players. I thought that we could do more and pitched them idea to shoot a backstory about the winner. The challenging part was that until the end of 2 day event we won't know who the winner would be. So we had to shoot a lot of coverage hoping that our soon to be a winner would be in the footage.
The other thing is that we actually had two winners, so i had to do interview with both of them to find out who will fit better for the story. This guy got my heart, when i questioned - what would you do if you don't sucсeed with football - and he said, i'd be still playing or be coach or whatever but football is my life. I knew we had our guy, so i pitched him to Nike crew and they agreed. The thing why i wanted to have only one hero is that two would create a feeling like we're comparing them, which was not what i intended.
The other cool thing about this video is that he actually cries while talking to his mom. I've noticed how sensible he is and asked him to call his mom and quietly ask DP to start rolling. The rest you see for yourself.
